Guide to Good Sustainable Practices

Wedoble always aims to work with the best practices. Nowadays, working conditions and concern for the environment are fundamental aspects for the smooth running of a brand, particularly in the textile industry. Establishing these standards and making them part of our daily routine is important. Developing and improving is essential.

Throughout our existence, we have put the people we work with first - giving them the best working conditions. We put materials and techniques first, as something that is integrated into our image and, as a result, results in the best product that we present and want consumers to have in their wardrobes.

All these components have led us to join initiatives that are linked to these concerns. KIDS MODAPORTUGAL is one of them. As well as promoting Portuguese children's fashion brands to the world, this initiative aims to show the product and, above all, the practices that are applied and what kind of impact they can have.

On the website of this project, of which we are ambassadors, you can find all the information about each brand. In this case, we have our Guide to Good Sustainable Practices, which explains our impact according to our environmental practices, social practices and product. In this way, we answer several important questions:

Environmental Practices

  • How many litres of water are used? - 21.12L/Kg;
  • Do we use clean energy sources? Which ones? 56% (solar panels, LEDs and car chargers);
  • How many kg of waste are generated? 1500kg.

Social Practices

  • How many people are involved? 85 people;
  • How many processes are estimated? Design, modelling, technical drawing, knitting, laundry, cutting, production, inspection, finishing, quality control, packaging and dispatch;
  • What social projects are we involved in? Guimarães Children's Home and the Portuguese League Against Cancer.

  • What circular design strategies are used? Design for longevity, design for unicycles and design for repair;

This is some information we wanted to share with you. We are very proud of these practices and the fact that they are a constant in our daily lives. However, we always want to improve and acquire ways to be more sustainable and create a more developed and, therefore, better environment.

The two main problems we want to solve are fighting textile waste and reducing the extraction of raw virgin material. To do this, it is essential for us to be orientated towards sustainable development objectives. Three of them are: SDG 7 (Renewable energy) - ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all; SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth) - promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth through productive employment and decent work for all; SDG 12 (Sustainable production and consumption) - ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

So today we bring you another short article related to sustainability and what we have been doing in this area that is so important for us and for the planet. We always make sure that this environmental sphere is increasingly crucial, in the sense that it is included in our work and that it is recognised.
