Resale is new in the fashion world

Resale is new in the fashion world

Our thoughts can be associated with the world of fashion - the new dress, the new colours we can see in the next collection, seeing what's new in our favourite brand's latest collection or noticing that there's a new jacket that everybody's wearing and it's the latest thing.

Well, that's all we think about, but there are now new ways of looking at fashion. Concepts such as reusing, using a vintage item or using a second-hand item. Bringing back models that a few years ago were the big trend and, as they say "used to be the thing".

In this way, second-hand is beginning to be present and is becoming a sign of awareness on the part of brands to allow what we call the circularity of fashion to take place. It's an asset for brands and something that people like and are increasingly looking for.

One aspect that we can associate with the brands' investment in second-hand sales is the concept of "worn again". Fashion is circular, we can grab those trousers from the 90s from the wardrobe or a basic jumper from our mum, which is of great quality and a classic. These small actions, which used to be seen as something natural and irrelevant, have become something that the many brands have started to pay attention to.

Technology has also promoted this type of behaviour - websites and platforms for buying and selling second-hand clothes. What no longer makes sense for us to have in our wardrobe could be a piece that someone needs or is looking for - the perfect solution is to take a photo and put it on a second-hand sales platform and give our clothes a chance. This makes perfect sense!

We can see that it's a success. We can observe that brands are taking greater care to create models with materials that reflect better quality and greater durability. We may notice that the resale of these same garments is a natural, intuitive process and it is to be expected that brands will begin to take this initiative. We recognise that this initiative becomes important for the brand's role within the industry or that whoever applies it first, opens the way for the following brands to join in, and whoever doesn't apply it will soon have that little bit of pressure to do so. And in no time at all, it's a natural thing to think about these days and brands are already introducing their own processes for reselling their clothes.

Another aspect of this world of clothing resale is the physical second-hand shops. Previously, they were discreet in our eyes or only frequented by those who were more attentive. What used to be just another shop has now become a must-visit place to see if you can find a piece of clothing that's missing from your wardrobe. But what can we see in these shops anyway? Well, as with everything, changes are beginning to emerge. The most recent articles claim that what would have been an alternative to reducing fast fashion, today this type of clothing is starting to be seen in these shops, which are now much more frequented. Is this a good thing? Will it continue to give strength to the development or possible evolution of fast fashion? Well, we don't know yet. Is it a practice that we can already associate with a positive and ongoing impact on what is intended to be an increasingly sustainable fashion industry? We'll have to wait and see.

From what we can read, it's not yet a significant sale. We believe that the purpose of reselling clothes is to give an opportunity for a garment in good condition and with quality to be worn by someone else who is also looking for those same qualities and that it can last for many years in their wardrobe. Perhaps the idea of seeing brands with a strong presence in the market and considered classics in the fashion industry is a very strong and prominent link these days. It's something more complex, because of the idea of this link to this action, site or platform.

The same can be said of the multiple platforms for selling second-hand clothes. Any type of clothing from any brand can and will be sold. Of course, some more than others. This brings us to the efficiency and speed with which a person can put the shirt they no longer wear up for sale. It can be perfectly linked to the fact that we understand who uses these platforms more often and who prefers to deliver and sell in a physical shop.

You already know Wedoble's commitment to the planet. The way we work is directed towards our future. This idea always runs through every piece we design, create and produce. Quality and durability are very important to us. The fact that we are part of a fashion world in which a garment may no longer be worn simply because it no longer fits the baby - that's natural. Another situation is the idea of preserving a garment for a baby on the way. In this case, if we have a second child, it's even better, because we can always use some of the jumpers or other items to wear, and these pieces will be passed down from generation to generation. With the right quality and designed to last, it's normal to be concerned about this and it's also with this in mind that we produce each item.

Bearing in mind the theme of today's post, we haven't yet found any Wedoble pieces in a second-hand shop, but we already have our association with a platform for second-hand sales, which we can actually present more as an exchange. It was something we had already started thinking about and it became necessary to go ahead and put it into practice. Once again, technology has been a tool that has allowed us to quickly and effectively join an action that has proved to be extremely important. And they're now available - https://white-stamp.com/wedoble/pt

We want to take another step in what can be and is our contribution to a better future for our planet. Our industry is one of the most polluting and so we must be aware of the new practices we can include and create an increasingly positive impact on the environment.

What about you? Have you ever bought second-hand clothes? What's your experience? We want to know your opinion
