Sleepy Baby - Part 2

Sleepy Baby - Part 2

Do babies have dreams? They make so many faces, one moment they are smiling, the next they are always moving from side to side. We can't figure it out.

Well, some pediatricians say that they only start to have a real dream when they are three years old. Until then, we always have that thought: what is he "dreaming" about? Is he/she having a restless "dream"? We all love the faces they make when they are sleeping.

For now, we have found a few more tips (you can always have them!), when we want our baby to sleep well and create all his dreams or not:

  • Sleep routine for day and night - ensure that the baby understands what to expect as time goes on;
  • Bedtime should be incorporated as soon as possible;
  • Babies love their routine, make sure you keep it in the same order as possible;
  • The noisiest games and activities should be left for the day!
  • A soft tone of voice, little stimulation and making the minimum possible eye contact with your baby are key at bedtime, even if he is ready for another playtime;
  • A completely silent house and making minimal noise as possible has its advantages, but can lead to a light sleep from our baby, even sleeping in another location;
  • Baby will take many naps, so we have to get him used to taking them in any place or situation;
  • Lying in your arms and cradling are great for putting a baby to sleep in the beginning. But you should slowly start to get him out of the habit of doing this - use other methods, such as rhythmic clapping. However, over time we must slowly let the baby learn to calm himself and finally fall asleep;
  • We must pay attention to the baby's signs of drowsiness. When they start to yawn, rub their eyes or stretch out, it is time for a nap.
  • Divide or ask other people (your partner, a relative or a friend) to help you at mealtimes so that you are not always getting out of bed.

These are some of many tips that we searched for and wanted to share with you! But, the idea that we must not forget is that each baby is different, and that some suggestions work, others not so much.

The message we want to get across is that you, mums and dads, who are going through this process of sleeping your baby are not alone. Talk to someone if things get too difficult, remember that you can't do everything. In this way, it will be an added value for your baby and for you. Situations such as sleep deprivation are signs that should not be ignored, but treated. We want the baby and the parents to be in the best conditions and, for this, they must always be well looked after.

Little reminder: the day will come when you will wake up and think "I didn't get up once", "the baby didn't cry and is still sleeping" and you will be proud of yourselves and your baby, because the idea that seemed so far away from "we just wanted our baby to sleep through the night", becomes a reality.

What about you? We want to know what your experiences and memories have been and if you have any other tips for baby sleep. And recent parents, we want to know how you have been surviving through this phase.
