Work-life balance

Creating a balance between our professional and personal lives can sometimes lead to a less than healthy mix, with one side overlapping the other. It's understandable, we want to be present in all fields.

As individuals, we are aware that there are deadlines to be met, certain tasks that have to follow a certain process, or at least that this logic is already intrinsic in our daily lives. However, as time goes by, managing professional time with personal time becomes one and the same. It can become something unusual, then it seems easy to do and, finally, it can be extremely difficult to manage.

These thoughts and events are the result of the reality in which we live. We are always connected to the moment, so at any time we can resolve, verify and have something to say. In this way, there is continuous availability, without any kind of interruption. We can consider that it has its advantages and disadvantages.

With a pandemic and the fast development of technology, the flexibility that exists around us means that everything can be happening at the same time.

In relation to this topic that we're bringing to you today, we came across a very interesting article that we think makes a lot of sense to reflect on here on the blog. In general, we want to understand how there can be a balance between professional and personal life in such a dynamic and fast-moving industry as textiles and the fashion world.

We begin by realising that there is an ‘always-on’ mentality characteristic of the sector, which can make balancing personal and professional responsibilities a real challenge. Many families tend to grow up and develop in a mixture of what is personal and what is work, starting to not even distinguish what they are dealing with at any given time.

In this reality that has become closer to us, the flexibility to deal with professional and personal tasks is something that can generate some uncertainty because sometimes there can be a misjudgement of this flexibility in dealing with everything, reaching the end and nothing seems to be working.

We know that family and the whole sphere outside of work is very important for us to preserve. We are individuals with habits and routines that must be well defined. Having time with our family is something that shouldn't be compromised; on the contrary, we want it to be guaranteed at all times.

Hybrid jobs can cause parents mental, physical and emotional difficulties. Our daily lives are managed in a way that is increasingly associated with the idea of ‘having everything yesterday’. This assumption can lead to parents feeling unwell and having little patience for the rest of their day. The rest of your day may or may not be linked to the time you spend with your little ones.

As a result, this balance is necessary both for the parents and for the little ones, who miss you and are anxious for you to switch off from work and give them your full attention.

Today, we wanted to bring up this very curious and interesting topic concerning the time that parents dedicate to their professional and personal lives. Now, more than ever, parents and their employers (and others) need to be well-defined, as they have increasingly taken on this responsibility for people's mental, physical and emotional health.

There needs to be more and more awareness of this and our publication can be seen as a reflection and a reminder of this very important subject that needs to be addressed. We will certainly return to this topic because of its importance and because we believe that there should be this division in a healthy and balanced way.

What about you? Have you managed to achieve this balance between your personal and professional spheres? Have your little ones ever felt the effects of this lack of balance? We want to know your experience. We want to know your opinion
