New post today and we're back to a topic that we've been keen to follow up on. And what an adventure it's been. If we're not mistaken, we're already in the fourth month of pregnancy.
The second trimester of this journey begins and with it comes news about the baby's growth and development, how he is doing, some habits that should be considered at this stage and, of course, some funny curiosities that may be common to many mums at this stage.
As always, we've done our research and one thing's for sure - our baby is full of energy and is more active than ever. This will be the month when you may start to feel some movement in your tummy. However, we shouldn't set our expectations too high, as these sensations may be slight or even unnoticeable. But let's not get discouraged, sooner or later we will feel it, as the baby can already make various movements with any part of its body.
Back to the developments we can see in this fourth month. Our little one's senses are becoming more and more refined - the inner retina is beginning to function; touch is becoming more perceptible in the baby's so-called more sensitive areas; the sense of smell is developing, but not to the point where it can still detect scents; the sense of taste is already more developed, so the baby will already be able to distinguish some flavours through the amniotic fluid.
By the 15th week, the little one will be able to identify some sounds, such as the heart, stomach or even mum or dad's voice. At this stage, parents will have conversations with him/her to calm them down, even if they don't understand yet.
Now that we've seen how our baby's month is developing, we want to know how we're doing in terms of food, if there are any particularities that we should take into consideration in the 4th month of pregnancy.
Last time we talked about food, we learnt that with the end of the first trimester the dislike and repulsion of certain foods came to an end. From the 4th month onwards, it's normal to be able to enjoy food. The important thing is that we continue to eat a balanced and varied diet, and you can have your cravings.
We always say that if you need something more specific, it's always best to contact your doctor, who will be able to answer any questions you may have.
In month four of pregnancy, what we call cravings begin to emerge. We start to think and hear I'm craving something or I'm craving that sweet we haven't had in a while. It's natural and we can satisfy these cravings. We can do it in a balanced way and alternate with different options - for example, eating a square of dark chocolate. However, we know that satisfying that craving will always feel good.
This is the 4th month with the most development and we know that our baby is growing with each passing month. It will continue to do so and, in the future, at the next ultrasound, we'll probably be able to find out the baby's sex, which is something we're always very curious to know.
In today's post, we can see that the small and rapid developments are continuing, food is already being seen in a more varied way, even if it's because there are no feelings of repulsion towards certain foods, and the baby's activity is on point.
We can't wait to approach the 5th month and see what new things it brings to our pregnancy journey.
What about you? How was your 4th month of pregnancy? Mums out there, lots of cravings? If so, which is the most common and which is the strangest? What are your highlights from month four of pregnancy? We want to know your experience. We want to know your opinion.
