When our baby takes his first steps

When our baby takes his first steps

We know our baby is grown up when we start to realise that our little one is trying to stand up and wants to take their first steps on their own. Then you'll hear: my baby has taken his first steps! It will certainly be a mixture of emotions, because we want our baby to take their first steps, but on the other hand it's a moment when we think about how much our baby is growing and that time really is passing too quickly.

Taking their first steps is yet another important moment in our child's growth and development, as they become independent and ready for what the future holds. We realise that it's both exciting and a little frightening to begin to see the various attempts at your baby's first steps.

So today we thought we'd take a look at this moment and how we can, in a way, encourage our little ones so that they feel confident and ready to take their first steps.

We researched and analysed what can be a source of encouragement or motivation for babies today. Showing that they are capable of moving forward and getting them to trust themselves are important aspects of taking the first steps.

We did our research and found some steps that might be important to encourage the baby:

  • Try to attract the baby by placing their favourite toy on the sofa;
  • Encourage the baby to pull and push up in order to reach the toy;
  • We must watch out for any kind of fall after the baby stands up;
  • When your baby is standing up, try holding their hand to encourage them to take their first steps;
  • Nowadays, there are toys to push that stimulate movement and could be an alternative to start moving your baby away from furniture;
  • Smiling, motivating and giving compliments are three important actions when we witness each attempt to take the first steps, whether it's successful or not;
  • When we realise that our baby is ready, we can get down on our knees at a certain distance and call out to them, trying to encourage them with a smile;
  • When the first steps have been successfully taken and it's becoming normal to see your baby walking, we should pay attention to some obstacles and objects that were previously out of reach, but now are.

Here are some tips we've found to encourage our little ones to take their first steps.

Essentially, we want our babies to go through this process at their own pace, because it's undoubtedly something new for them. Parents will certainly always be there to see them, motivate and encourage them with a smile and the happiness they transmit to their children when they see the small steps they start to take.

What about you? How has this learning process gone or is it going? Do you have any other tips you could add to the list? We want to know your experiences. We want to know your opinion
