Are we going to play outside?

Are we going to play outside?

The warm days are here and it's a beautiful day outside. We're already full of ideas!

It makes us want to go outside and enjoy the day. Go for a walk, have a picnic or have a good time with family and friends. Now let's think about what's going through the minds of children and babies - they'll be wanting to spend the day and explore the outside world. For some it will be normal and they'll be looking forward to doing something new together. For others it will be a complete new experience and they couldn't be more excited.

When we think back to before today, spending time outside and playing with whatever nature had to offer was a privilege and would become a major factor in children's development. Playing the typical group games, going for a walk or having a little get-together with friends brought other benefits to children's lives. These are stimulating things that are unique and we can consider them to be completely different from those that can be related to spending time indoors or playing with certain toys.

This way, we have good weather, the will to go out and enjoy the day, but now we need to take a few questions into account. We've done some research on the subject, because we think it's essential to play outdoors, but also to be mindful when diving into this adventure, realising how rewarding it can be for both parents and their baby.

This willingness can be extremely important for children's development and for parents too. It's understandable to be apprehensive, because you'll be dealing with factors outside your home, an environment that you have minimal control over. But it will certainly be a very important experience for your baby and your parents.

Playing outdoors will only bring benefits and help your baby develop - it will improve their physical abilities and allow them to increase their sense of security and what they were afraid of doing will gradually disappear; another important factor is that your baby can establish relationships with other babies and develop their social skills.

Playing outdoors with other children is extremely stimulating for children's imagination and creativity in an environment that is completely new and available to be discovered, whether through imagining certain situations, stories or inventing a new game. What's more, components such as leadership and co-operation can also be developed - a group activity promotes mutual help between children and great friendships can be built for the rest of your children's lives.

This outdoor experience is interesting, so we went to see what one or two tips we could point out for the next moment when the child asks to go outside to play.

The first tip we'd like to emphasise is that in a situation where children are still very young, it's advisable to take familiar musical toys, as they can be a great source of stimulation for the various senses and skills that babies can develop.

A second tip is that when the child is older (around two years old) and already has a certain amount of independence, it's a good idea to take their favourite toys with them, especially if they're not similar to the other children's toys, to avoid any misunderstandings. However, sharing and the possibility of having a good time is one of the main benefits we can get from this outdoor experience.

Having the chance to enjoy time outdoors is a privilege and something we can't always take for granted. We should make the most of it and, in this case, let our babies and children know what good nature and the outside world has to offer and the benefits it has for their development.

Now we ask, are we going to play outside?

What about you? Parents out there, what activities do you usually do with your children? Any experiences you'd like to share? We want to know your opinion
