Today we're leaving aside topics related to children and turning our attention to motherhood, in particular the well-being of mothers.
We did some research into what we could bring you today. One topic stood out and it became clear that it needed to be addressed - the first month of pregnancy. We know that we've given a lot of attention to topics associated with the well-being of our little ones, but we decided it was time to bring back something associated with mums and the particularities they go through.
This time we thought it was important to find out a little more about the first month of pregnancy. We think it's a month of a lot of information to keep track of, a lot of news about the results we've received, the processes we have to go through and the precautions we have to take. Above all, we're in a month where we're still absorbing the big news and realising that from the day we found out we were going to be parents, our lives were going to change.
If you're new parents or parents-to-be - congratulations and best wishes!
The feeling we get is that it's not even real, yet one month into pregnancy there will already be some developments in terms of the little one's growth. As such, we wanted to understand the possible differences and see what precautions newly pregnant women can take or maintain.
What we realised was that in the first month of pregnancy the future baby is the size of a comma, with the formation of its members still at a very early stage. The umbilical cord is in the process of formation and the circulation between the foetus and the placenta is becoming more and more established.
We are at a stage where the foetus is seen as a small oval disc, made up of three layers which will be responsible for the various structures that make up the baby's body - endoderm (inner layer) - gives rise to the baby's organs, such as the liver or respiratory system; middle layer - responsible for forming the skeleton, blood system, heart and sexual organs; ectoderm (outer layer) which results in the nervous system, sensory organs, skin, hair and nails. In between these layers, the baby's head will be formed.
One detail we found fascinating was the fact that from the end of the third week, the little heart already beats in the form of a heart tube. From the fourth week onwards, there is great development and the internal organs are created and blood circulation begins.
Now that we know about the big and small developments that little ones make in their first month, let's take a look at some aspects that mums can take into consideration.
One piece of advice is related to eating habits. In general, they say that you need to pay special attention to the food you eat. This doesn't mean that you should eat for two. From day 1 of pregnancy, mums' nutritional needs will change, so they should take into account the control and increase of certain vitamins, such as iron, which will be essential for the baby's development.
However, at this stage it's always important to seek help from your doctor, as it will depend on each case. In general, it is recommended to avoid foods such as raw fish and seafood or dairy products made from unpasteurised milk. Cooking meat well and washing any fruit you eat is essential. In addition to these dietary precautions, hygiene is essential. Things like washing your hands thoroughly before preparing a meal or before sitting down at the table.
In addition to these concerns, it is always advisable to consult a doctor who can provide detailed information specific to each situation.
Our research highlighted the importance of food supplements. In this respect, the prescription should always be adapted to each situation. Normally, before you are pregnant, if you eat a varied and balanced diet, your vitamin needs will be met. If not, the most common thing is to take some vitamins that are essential for early pregnancy. Iron is often mentioned, as it is something that pregnant women need a lot. But you should always talk to your doctor first.
So, these are a few indications that we've managed to put together and that we thought would be interesting to share with you about the first month of pregnancy. We believe that you can already feel your little one growing day by day and that's why you should enjoy every moment. Maybe you haven't told many people yet and you're discovering the various sensations and some predictions for the future. For now, it's your own secret! Congratulations!
