We realise that technology has revolutionised the way we look at everything we do and everything that happens around us. We find ourselves wondering what the future will be like and how we will adapt to the new developments that are constantly arriving.
As in all sectors of society, technology is generating changes in the way the textile sector works - whether it's the informative data we use, virtual technology or, what may be more controversial but is now inevitable, artificial intelligence. The dominance of technology brings practicable results and makes it necessary to adapt to this new context in the fashion industry.
As an industry that has always played a very important role and one would think that its function would be to cover the human body, it is now becoming more than that. This industry is becoming increasingly concerned about all the components that make it up as a result of the influence of the news circulating around the world. Growing concerns about working conditions, sustainability and the need to satisfy consumers are linked and make new technologies play a more significant and important role.
We live in an instant era, where social networks are transforming the way we consume fashion and giving us access to the latest trends and innovations appearing on the catwalk. Future generations are looking for products that suit their needs and preferences. Quality and durability are favoured characteristics and fast fashion, with the massification of quantities, no longer has as much influence.
From the factory to the retailer, this connection with the digital world is starting to make sense - at the boundaries of manufacturing, production and marketing. The industry is changing as a result of the technology boom, such as the adoption of online sales or digital fashion shows. The pandemic has fuelled this change, or at least made it develop more quickly, because what seemed far away and impossible to achieve can now be done with just a click.
With such changes in technology, consumers are beginning to demand increasingly sophisticated digital interaction capable of providing a good online experience. In addition, we can add the fact that there is greater interest in how a particular garment is produced and what material is used.
According to several articles, we can see four main changes in the future of fashion:
- Importance and use of data: previously people used what brands created, today the normal thing will be to understand customers' preferences, monitor their buying behaviour and create products that meet their needs - they will be more likely to buy; it will be an asset because of the greater knowledge that brands will have about the product that people really want, the reduction of waste and there being a connection between the brand and consumers; it provides greater efficiency for brands and allows there to be a balance between creativity and supply and demand;
- Sustainability: people want to wear environmentally friendly clothes and slow fashion is appreciated;
- Digital: more consumers are taking advantage of the convenience of digital - being able to find out what's new at any time, the availability of the product online and the possibility of seeing the fit and matching garment virtually;
- Simplification of everything: simplified process from the trend to its presentation.
The truth is that technology has brought people an immersive experience and constant interaction with the consumer. It makes sustainable brands permanently relevant. It allows fashion to evolve, testing new ideas, becoming more flexible and virtual.
Well, with such changes we can get a bit confused, but it's the natural way of transformation and evolution in the world of fashion. The various brands are trying to keep up and are betting on methods that suit them best. Wedoble is no exception.
Our brand has always strived to be recognised as sustainable, thanks to our daily practices, the production techniques we've already mentioned, our constant contact with those who contact us, the way we plan for the future and our desire to evolve with the various changes that are frequently taking place.
Today, Wedoble is developing its production techniques, where waste and quantities are controlled. In terms of contact with our community and the new people who come to buy our clothes - we're focusing a lot on the experience we want to give the customer whenever they use our website, paying attention to aspects such as colours, photos and access; social networks are also equally important to our business - bringing news, showing what we're doing, understanding our consumers' preferences, talking to people and getting inspiration for new models for future collections.
We really believe that technology and what can come of it will boost many industries, one of which is fashion. There is the possibility of providing greater contact and influence on the part of the consumer in brand decisions through what they are looking for and their needs, and brands will be able to have more and more access to the preferences of those who follow them and formulate the perfect combination: creativity and what people want to see and consume.
That's all for today, but we look forward to seeing what the next innovations in this industry will be.
