The responsibility to create a better world for our future and for the generations to come has become increasingly evident, given the consequences that can be seen and what we can do with the resources we have today to deal with the various problems facing our planet. We believe that if everyone does their part, on a daily basis, we will be able to minimise these issues.
When we talk about doing our part, as brands that are part of one of the most polluting industries, we have a responsibility to look for more sustainable practices and to be more transparent about the different processes that go into producing our items.
Nowadays, when we buy a piece of clothing, we consider durability and quality. These two characteristics are entirely linked to the raw materials. The material matters more than ever. At the same time, it will determine how sustainable a garment can be, due to the way it is produced and the multiple processes it goes through.
Going back to the material, knowing the composition of a jumper or shirt we buy is important because we want to know if it's something that will last and is sustainable. In addition, the garment is valued for all these details.
In the area of children's fashion, the use of materials and fibres has been worked on and, these days, the different brands already have a better understanding of what is best to use in their garments. Likewise, we can see that we are talking about children's garments in which the material used must be very careful. Therefore, creating garments that bring with them quality, durability and sustainable compositions is an asset for us and for the planet.
It is well known that two thirds of a product's impact depends on its raw materials. If we look at the numbers for the autumn/winter season of 22/23 - 89% of natural fibres and 11% of synthetic fibres were used by brands. In reality, the significant process we've been carrying out along this path has had a great impact. However, this work has not come to an end, it will always be an ongoing process and every year will bring more practices and innovation that we can include and in this way do more and better for the good of our planet.
Today, we're once again bringing you the KIDS MODAPORTUGAL project, which explains and shows us exactly this issue of the use of materials. In addition, it emphasises the actions taken by each brand and makes the work we do and its results even more clear.
The ambassador brands, of which Wedoble is a part, already have a more detailed knowledge of this subject, so the investment of time and resources in choosing the right raw materials is notable.
All these practices require deep and long work to realise how we can always add something that brings us closer to being environmentally friendly. To all the components that exist in the choice of raw material, we can also add all the other factors - the way in which it is produced and made - that end up being influenced by the choice of the right raw material.
We at Wedoble see the choice and use of raw materials as a primary and essential factor in the entire process of creation, production and delivery to the consumer. It will benefit us as a brand, the baby who wears our clothes and the environment, which will benefit from the return of the raw materials.
What about you? Do you check the composition of a garment you buy? We want to know your opinion.
