When we leave them at kindergarten

When we leave them at kindergarten

Throughout a baby's growth and development, there are several spaces and environments that become familiar to our little ones. Whether it's because something has happened that has impacted them, directly or indirectly, or even because they have created memories that they will always remember.

These spaces are really important because of what they can give children and because they become comfortable places that are recognised for their safety in being able to learn everything and a lot. To read, to take their first steps, to interact with other people and to develop their skills, many of which will be essential for their future.

At an early stage, we believe that there will be a more or less easy adaptation, as everything will have its particularities and this will always depend on the baby. The first places will be chosen by the parents, depending on what they believe is best for their child. One of the places we want to talk about again here on the blog is the kindergarten. We believe it's a place full of memories, where a large part of our childhood is lived, without preconceived ideas, without beating around the bush and with a completely open mind, where innocence gives children the ability to be willing to learn, play and face new situations.

We see the kindergarten as a place for "primary education" and first contacts, without, of course, ever excluding contact with parents at home from day one. It will be a new environment, with different kind of stimulation, new ways of looking at things and it will be a context where, from now on, the child will be included and will feel part of.

However, before arriving at the kindergarten, it's necessary to understand the best space for parents to choose in order to make their baby and themselves feel comfortable and safe. Throughout our research, it is clear that there is some fear on the part of parents about leaving their children in the kindergarten for the first time. However, it's a space that is used nowadays and a way that parents turn to, due to work circumstances or the distance from family members who can look after the children. Kindergarten will be the big choice for parents.

The kindergarten, as well as being a place where children will be looked after, is a place that will contribute to the growth and development of babies. The socialisation factor is highly developed by the many games and interactions that take place between the children. We've done our research and here are some of the benefits that kindergarten can have:

  • Learning a new language - they have the ability to create their own unique way of communicating with each other, through gestures and their own "language", don't worry, they'll understand each other;
  • Stimulation intensifies - the kindergarten is a place full of objects to see, touch, smell, hear and learn from; sounds, images and interaction are constant learning opportunities for the little ones; these are small aspects that make all the difference when we're talking about a space where the little ones will spend most of their days;
  • Creating interpersonal relationships - with the arrival at the kindergarten, there is the setting up of schedules and routines that lead to a growing sense of belonging to a group; this allows the little ones to establish connections and therefore have more incentive to be with their group of friends and colleagues;
  • Learning to share - children will learn to share a toy, an object or something they like with their friend or colleague next to them; the development of this action is fundamental and the kindergarten will provide plenty of opportunities to put it into practice.

In this way, the kindergarten presents itself as an opportunity for parents to place their children in the knowledge that it will be a safe, comfortable and suitable place for them to grow and develop. In this way, they will have the chance to develop some of the faculties we mentioned earlier, create unique memories, establish contact with different people, learn and interact more and more and create relationships with other little ones that, who knows, we won't be watching for their future best friends.

What about you? How did you feel when you took your son/daughter to kindergarten? Do you feel that your little one has grown a lot since entering the kindergarten? What do you see as the main benefits of kindergarten? How has your little one reacted to this new space in their routine? We want to know your experience. We want to know your opinion
